Tajikistan Defeat Pakistan in FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

ISLAMABAD: After receiving a 4-0 defeat from Saudi Arabia last week, the Pakistan football team suffered another defeat where Tajikistan outclassed the green shirts by 6-1 in the second match of the second round in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers player at Jinnah stadium Islamabad on Tuesday.

Despite receiving defeats from Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan, spectators were still happy about Pakistan’s performance as despite being one of the lowest in the FIFA ranking, the team managed to represent Pakistan in the Qualifiers.

The match was started in the presence of over 13000 crowd in the stadium, where Tajikistan got off to a brilliant start and dominated Pakistan from the beginning. They managed to score early in the game, with Kamolov scoring for the visitors courtesy of a minor deflection from Abdullah Iqbal.

Tajikistan doubled their lead with another strike from outside the box, with Soirov making it impossible for Pakistan’s Yousuf Butt to block the ball from entering the goal net.

The emerging Pakistan team showed some brilliance in the middle of the first half, and in the 21st minute, Rahis Nabi scored a blinder with his left foot, giving the home side much-needed hope to get back in the game.

However, the green shirts were unable to maintain the momentum, and the visitor team dominated once again till the end of the game. Tajikistan managed to maintain pressure, played an aggressive game, and registered their 3rd goal in the 26th minute of the game.

Tajikistan Dominate Pakistan

In the second half of the game, Pakistani players were unable to break the forward line of Tajikistan as they later made several attempts, including some successful ones. They scored two more goals very quickly and took the Pakistani side almost out of the game. 

Later, they finished with a 6-1 victory against Pakistan. Besides the defeat, it was a good day for Pakistani fans to watch Pakistani footballers playing in the qualifiers as they were hoping for better performance in the future.
