COLOMBO: Former champions Pakistan became the eighth side to secure a place in the Super Eights of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after registering a dominant 102-run win over Namibia at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground on Wednesday.

Pakistan ended the group stage second in Group A with six points from four matches. Their qualification also confirmed the exit of the United States of America (USA), who dropped to third place with four points, bringing their tournament campaign to an end.

The eight teams progressing to the next round have been split into two groups of four. Group X includes defending champions India alongside Zimbabwe, West Indies and South Africa. Group Y features England, New Zealand, Pakistan and co-hosts Sri Lanka.

Each side will play three matches in the Super Eights, with the top two teams from both groups advancing to the semi-finals, set to take place on March 4 and 5.

The Super Eights stage begins on February 21, with Pakistan facing New Zealand at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The round will conclude on March 1 with a double-header — South Africa versus Zimbabwe, followed by India against West Indies.
