MUMBAI: West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first against Nepal in the 25th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Shai Hope opted to field, signalling his side’s intent to apply early pressure with the ball and chase down the target later in the day. The decision also reflects the West Indies’ confidence in their bowling unit on a surface that may offer assistance in the opening overs.

The Caribbean side have been one of the stronger teams in Group C so far, with victories over Scotland and England positioning them well for a Super 8 berth.

Nepal, however, arrive in Mumbai with belief after competitive showings in earlier group matches. The team is aiming to stay alive in the tournament and pull off an upset that would significantly improve their chances of progressing.

The West Indies vs Nepal clash carries added interest given their recent history. Nepal recorded a historic victory over West Indies during a T20I series in 2025 — a first for the associate nation against a full-member opponent — highlighting their growing capability on the global stage.

With the match underway shortly after the toss, both teams will be eager to seize early momentum in this crucial World Cup encounter.
