ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the shortlist for the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with only one Pakistan player included after the team’s disappointing campaign.

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan is the sole representative from the national side, which failed to progress beyond the early stages of the tournament. Farhan scored 383 runs in six innings, the highest aggregate ever recorded in a single edition of the men’s T20 World Cup. He also became the first player to register two centuries in one tournament, achieving the milestone against Sri Lanka and Namibia.

Despite Pakistan missing out on the semi-finals due to net run-rate calculations, Farhan consistently provided strong starts at the top of the order.

Will Jacks

England’s Will Jacks is among the leading contenders after playing a crucial role in guiding his team to the semi-final. The all-rounder earned four Player of the Match awards and scored 226 runs at an impressive strike rate of 176.56 while also contributing with the ball.

South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi has been a standout performer with the ball, delivering several key spells including four wickets against Canada and three-wicket hauls against Afghanistan and West Indies.

Proteas captain Aiden Markram also features on the list after scoring three half-centuries during the tournament, including two unbeaten 86-run innings in successful chases against New Zealand and West Indies.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert have also made notable contributions with both bat and ball, helping their side reach the final.

Among other nominees are Shadley van Schalkwyk of the United States, who claimed 13 wickets in four matches, and India’s Sanju Samson, who produced back-to-back match-winning innings in the later stages of the competition.

The Player of the Tournament will be announced after the final between India and New Zealand.
