ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Syria to Pakistan Dr. Ramez Alraee has strongly condemned Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza and asked the international community to take immediate steps to stop the war and give peace a chance.
He expressed these remarks visiting WENEWS office in Islamabad. The ambassador said that catastrophe in Palestine has affected mostly women and children and a human dilemma is unfolding before the world. He said that Israel is committing war crimes and atrocities against the innocent people of Palestine in Gaza.
Dr. Ramez Alraee said that Israel must respect international laws and international resolutions including 242, 338, 425 and 497 over the conflict in the middle east. The Ambassador added that these UN resolutions ask Israel to withdraw from occupied Arab land particularly from Al-Quds Al Sharif and Golan heights. He added that all these international resolutions were approved and endorsed by all countries including the US and UN permanent members. He said that Syria and Arab nations believe on peace, love, justice security and prosperity in the region but Israel pursuing the policy of genocide, killing, aggression. He said that it is very unfortunate the Israel does not believe on peace. He added that Israel has no respect for international resolutions. The ambassador also condemned Israeli aggression on Syria and Lebanon. The envoy further said that the world must take steps to stop Israeli aggression against Syria and Lebanon as well.
The Gaza-based Health Ministry said the Palestinian death toll from the current brutal Israeli attacks on Gaza has increased and over 24,620 fatalities are recorded mostly women and children. The wounded are over 61,000 and millions are displaced. The bombing by the Israeli forces is just a little short of collective bombing of World War II and it is ongoing.
UN has lost many of its doctors who were serving humanity and refused to leave the wounded and then died alongside them. The media covering the war also paid their share and with over 100 dead journalists who refused to bow down to fear stayed in war zone to show the truth as what actually is happening in Gaza.
Pakistan-Syria Relations
Ambassador warmly stated the brotherly ties between the two countries and gave many examples where Pakistan and Syria together explored different areas and collaborated in field enriching their capabilities.
He pointed out that Syria will be holding over twenty exhibitions in Damascus this year and Pakistan as a valued guest is invited to be a part of these events that will have focus on trade and business.
Syria and Pakistan have a great tourism potential and the visitors from both the countries can enrich their travel experience in sight-seeing and experiencing the culture. He made a special mentioning of Pakistan being very close to Syrian people with shared history, culture and above all the concept of Ummah and brotherhood.
Ambassador Applauds WENEWS’s Success In Highlighting Global Issues
In his visit to WENEWS office, the ambassador witnessed the staff in different sections and lauded the professionalism of the staff members in keeping abreast with the world with objective reporting and analysis.
He met with staff and expressed happiness over WENEWS contributions in the digital media. The Ambassador took special interest in the sports, culture and culinary sections of the WENEWS and termed culture as a very strong bond in bringing people of different regions together.
He was of the view that media is a very important medium to present a soft image of the society. He took special interest to read and watch the stories of WENEWS about the global scenarios and wished more success for this digital platform for further growth.
WENEWS staff and the ambassador also discussed the role of media in the society. The visiting dignitary was of the view that it is the age of digital media and more and more focus should be given to digital platforms to realize the new trends in the media industry as the traditional media cannot compete with digital platforms without accepting the new realities in the technology. He suggested that Pakistan and Syria should also cooperate in the media sector to present positive aspect of the society to the international and national audience particularly combating disinformation which is spread deliberately to create doubts.
