BEIRUT: On Wednesday, there was an Israeli military operation in southwest Syria that resulted in the unfortunate loss of eight soldiers and the injury of seven others, according to a report by the Syrian state news agency (SANA).
As per information from a military source, SANA stated that Israel conducted an aerial strike, targeting multiple military positions in the vicinity of the southwestern city of Deraa. The attack also caused significant material damage, the report added. This incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday (or 2245 GMT on Tuesday), according to SANA’s report.

The Israeli military had previously announced that their aircraft had struck Syrian army infrastructure and mortar launchers in the early hours of Wednesday. They characterized this action as a response to rocket launches from Syria towards Israel.
