SYDNEY, Australia: On Sunday, a mass stabbing in Sydney’s Engadine suburb left four people injured, including a police officer.

The attack is part of a troubling series of stabbing incidents in the city this year. According to police, the incident began with a crash and then involved a suspected stabbing.

Authorities have confirmed that no fatalities have been reported. The suspect, who fled the scene, was subdued with a Taser and is now in custody.

This incident adds to a series of knife attacks in Sydney, prompting New South Wales to implement stricter knife laws. Recent legislation, passed in June, allows police to use electronic metal detectors at public venues to enhance safety.

This year’s violence includes an April attack in Bondi, where six people died and twelve were injured.
