BERN: The government of Switzerland has deported two Afghan citizens citing security concerns, western media reported on Sunday.
According to the Swiss authorities, these individuals were serious offenders who posed a threat to national security.
Both Afghan citizens received approximately $583 in cash from Swiss authorities before their departure to Afghanistan. State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) Deputy Director Vincenzo Mascioli indicated that deportations of other individuals in similar cases would also be made as early as possible.

This move is in line with wider efforts across the European Union to deport Afghan citizens considered offenders. Germany started the recent wave by announcing plans to deport 28 Afghans to Afghanistan.
Human rights organizations have voiced concern over the deportations of Afghan nationals, warning that returnees face significant risks amid worsening human rights conditions under the Taliban.
