WASHINGTON: US prominent actress Suzanne Somers has died at 76 after a decades-long fight with cancer, local media reported on Monday. Suzanne Somers’s publicist has also confirmed her death.

She started her acting career in the late 60s and early 70s with small roles in Television shows. Somers featured in the show for 5 of its 8 seasons before being fired after a dispute over matter of pay.
After a break from on-screen acting, she returned to on-screen acting in the early 90s – taking up a major role in Step by Step, which ran for 7 seasons. Her later television credits included her own talk program The Suzanne Show, BBC reported.
She built up a multimillion-dollar fitness empire, also appearing in different types of commercials for the ButtMaster and Thighmaster exercise equipment and releasing several books on topics including wellness and weight loss. The actress also launched her own beauty brand in 2019 .
Suzanne Somers was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her 50s and announced via social media in July that, following being in remission, it had returned. Her publicist said that a private family burial will be held for her next week. She is survived by her son and husband.
