LAHORE: At Services Hospital in Lahore, a 30-year-old patient who was thought to have Naegleria has passed away. The patient reportedly suffered numerous symptoms, including fever and headache, for four days.
Additionally, the medical staff claimed that the patient exhibited signs of a brain-eating amoeba after swimming.
They said that the patient had been swimming when Naegleria entered through his nostrils. According to the administration, the patient spent one-day receiving treatment at Services Hospital in a severe state. It said that a heart attack by Naegleria caused the patient’s death.
A private laboratory has confirmed that the first case of the brain-eating amoeba was recorded in the provincial capital on Monday. “History of the Naegleria case is being determined. The case has been given to a team of skilled medical professionals”, according to Services Hospital MS Dr. Ehtisham Haque.
Naegleria cases in Karachi
It is important to mention that Karachi has also experienced several Naegleria cases this year. Experts have issued a warning asking the general public to avoid swimming in unchlorinated pools.
