ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Pakistan convened a meeting chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, to address unresolved allegations against judges in the higher judiciary. During the meeting, a show cause notice was issued to Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi, a judge of the superior court.
The notice came in response to a complaint filed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood against Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi, citing allegations of misconduct, illegal acquisition of assets, and accumulation of wealth through intermediaries.
The complaint, submitted by Mian Dawood Advocate, urged the Supreme Judicial Council to consider the removal of Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi from his esteemed position within the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The meeting, attended by Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti of the Lahore High Court and Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Awan of the Balochistan High Court, along with Justices Sardar Tariq Masood and Ijazul Ahsan, emphasized the importance of addressing these serious accusations. Supreme Court Registrar Jazeela Aslam and Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan were also present during the proceedings.
This development follows a judicial letter sent by Justices Faez Isa and Tariq Masood to Justice Bandial, who was the Chief Justice at the time, requesting an SJC meeting to discuss the allegations against Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi. Justice Bandial subsequently sought a legal opinion from Justice Tariq Masood in May.
