ISLAMABAD: In a case involving false admissions, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has suspended the Registrar and Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan.
As per details, the VC and Registrar were accused of conspiring with law colleges linked with BZU to provide fake admissions to LLB programmes. Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the case and ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide a full report on the issue at the next hearing. The hearing has been adjourned for indefinite period.
Students inform Supreme Court…
During the hearing, affected students informed the court that the linked colleges are not holding the final exams of the three-year LLB programme’s final semester. Justice Ijaz informed the students that the apex court would handle this problem once the FIA submitted its findings.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) reportedly halted the admission process at Isra University last December due to the ongoing fake degrees issue involving senior university officials. The decision applied to all admissions, in Hyderabad including medical colleges, as well as Karachi and Islamabad, until the dispute was resolved.
