ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Supreme Court office on Saturday returned the plea of the former prime minister Imran Khan against his conviction in the Toshakhana case, citing objections.
The Supreme Court registrar’s office said that the papers annexed to the appeal were incomplete, and the appeal could be re-submitted with the necessary documents by January 6.
The PTI founder had appealed to the Supreme Court, seeking the suspension of the sentence in the Toshakhana case. The petitioner urged the court to declare the decision of the Islamabad High Court over disqualification in the case as void, contending that the sentence in the Toshakhana case had already been suspended.
It is noteworthy that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the plea, leading the former Chairman of PTI to approach the Supreme Court.
The decision to suspend the Toshakhana case could potentially make the former prime minister eligible to participate in upcoming elections.
