Suleman Shehbaz, Others Acquitted in Money-laundering Case

LAHORE: A special court on Monday acquitted Suleman Shehbaz and other accused in a money-laundering case.

Bakht Behzad, judge of the special central court, announced the verdict on the acquittal pleas of Suleman Shehbaz and other accused.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had earlier given a clean chit to PM Sharif’s son, Suleman Shahbaz and other accused in the case.

It is to mention here that PM Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz have already been acquitted in money-laundering cases.

The Special Judge Central Court was hearing money-laundering case against Suleman Shehbaz involving Rs 16 billion.

The FIA apprised the court that the agency didn’t find any evidence regarding money-laundering and kickbacks.

According to the challan submitted by FIA, the accused have no connection with this case, the court observed.

Salman’s counsel told the court that money-laundering was not proved against any of the accused.

Suleman, who returned to Pakistan, was granted bail in the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau in 2020.

He returned to Pakistan on December 11 last year after a four-year exile in London.
