CAIRO: Sudan state run television cut its transmission on Sunday noon, an act that employees said was aimed at stopping the broadcast of propaganda by a paramilitary force (Rapid Support Forces) that was fighting with the army for control of Khartoum.

The RSF said it took control of the state-run television and other key facilities as fighting erupted around the capital on Saturday, claims that were denied by the army.
By Sunday, the military of the country appeared to have the upper hand in the ongoing fighting in Sudan. State media officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said authorities had cut broadcast signals after the RSF had entered the main state broadcaster building in Omdurman and used radio networks to broadcast its favorable programs.
Reuters reported transmission on the country main official TV channel went blank today after hours of looped repeats of recorded programs.
Some media reports suggest that State radio was also cut after the recent wave of violence in the African country.
