CALIFORNIA: A study conducted by the University of California has found a potential connection between Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and memory and thinking problems in middle-aged women.

PCOS, a condition affecting around 10% of women, is known for causing irregular periods, elevated testosterone levels, and infertility. The study involved approximately 900 women, aged between 50 and 60, revealing that those with PCOS showed difficulties in memory, attention, and verbal skills compared to their counterparts without the condition.

Moreover, brain scans conducted as part of the study found that women with PCOS had poorer connections between brain cells. PCOS is already associated with other health risks such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart problems.

The study emphasizes the need for further research to solidify the findings, shedding light on potential cognitive implications for women with PCOS as they reach middle age. In the United Kingdom, where approximately three million women suffer from PCOS.
