LAHORE: President Dr. Arif Alvi said on Thursday that Pakistan Navy was playing a commendable role in safeguarding and protecting the naval and maritime interests of the country, despite resource constraints in a difficult maritime security paradigm and overall regional situation.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the fifth Maritime Security Workshop 2022 (MARSEW-5), held at Pakistan Navy War College here in Lahore, the President said that regional countries, including Pakistan, were facing many challenges due to changing regional and global situation as new alliances were in the making and the priorities of countries were being readjusted. In such a situation, the President said, a strong naval force was vital for the safety and security of the country.
He appreciated Pakistan Navy forces’ relief assistance operations after recent floods in the country.
The president Dr. Arif Alvi said that in such a dynamic situation, the countries need to remain vigilant and adjust themselves in the changing environment with honor, and dignity and preserve their sovereignty in decision-making.
He stressed the need to accelerate the decision-making speed and choose the right time and quick implementation of the decisions.

The president Dr. Arif Alvi said that a stable economy was necessary for gaining regional and international recognition, therefore, new avenues to increase the products and exports were needed. It was imperative to develop standard of human resources, upscale trade, business, trade, and industrialization.
He also emphasized the need of bringing digitilization in work processes, utilising artificial intelligence and investing in quantum computer research and development to get, sustain, and ultimately improve a reasonable economic outlook. Pakistan was short of time and it needs tangible measures in all matters of the state.
On the ocassion, Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal, the Commandant Pakistan Navy War College, highlighted the crucial role of naval forces in the national defense and security.
