CARIO: A video-journalist from the Cairo-based television channel Al Ghad has been killed in Gaza on Sunday in an Israeli strike.

As per reports dozens of journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

The channel in a post on X, formerly Twitter said that Al Ghad video-journalist Yazan al-Zwaidi has been murdered by Israeli fire.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists alongside Zwaidi, at least 82 other journalists and media professionals, the vast majority Palestinian, have been killed since the start of the war.

The United Nations has also expressed its deep concern at the high death toll of media workers.

Earlier the International Criminal Court said it was investigating potential crimes against journalists since the outbreak of conflict in the Gaza strip.

The health ministry in the Gaza Strip on Sunday reported that the death toll has reached 23,968, mostly women and children, in the Palestinian territory over the course of 100 days of relentless Israeli bombardments since October 7. The ministry has recorded 60,582 wounded as a result of the continuous Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and advocated for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Israeli offensive has led to the displacement of a majority of Gaza’s 2.3 million population. It has also resulted in the destruction of civilian infrastructure and severe shortages of essential resources such as food, water, and medicine.
