Strengthened Ties: Punjab and US Align for Collaborative Initiatives

LAHORE: A meeting was held between Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the US Consul General Kirstin K. Hawkins, where she commended Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s people-friendly initiatives.

The meeting highlighted the potential for enhanced collaboration between Punjab and the United States across various sectors.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi was acknowledged for his hardworking approach and was praised for the provincial government’s commitment to serving the people. The US Consul General admired Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s active engagement in his responsibilities.

One of the focal points of discussion was leveraging American expertise to boost wheat production, with a specific emphasis on the agricultural sector.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed interest in collaboration with California University to integrate educational institutions in Punjab. Additionally, he expressed a desire to implement projects, such as constructing small houses in Punjab based on the California model.

Addressing the smog challenge, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi underscored the importance of determining its causes and highlighted the government’s concerted efforts to serve the people in a short period.

The U.S. Consul General expressed a desire to collaborate with Punjab in education and commerce. She further expressed willingness to promote bilateral cooperation under the California and Punjab Sister States Relationship Agreement. Discussions revolved around enhancing mutual relations and cooperation in various sectors.

The meeting, attended by provincial ministers S. M. Tanveer, Aamir Meer, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, and other relevant authorities, marks a positive step towards strengthening ties and exploring new avenues of collaboration between Punjab and the United States.
