RAMALLAH, Palestine: The State of Palestine on Tuesday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan to end the war in Gaza, voicing confidence in Washington’s ability to find a path toward peace.
In a statement, published by WAFA news agency, the State of Palestine also underscored the importance of the partnership with the United States in achieving peace in the region.
It said any deal must ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the release of captives and prisoners, mechanisms to protect civilians and uphold the ceasefire, and guarantees to prevent land annexation, forced displacement, and unilateral measures that violate international law.
The Palestinian statement further called for the release of withheld tax revenues, a full Israeli withdrawal, and the unification of Palestinian land and institutions across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
It reaffirmed the aim of “a just peace based on a two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign State of Palestine living side by side with Israel in peace and good neighbourliness, in accordance with international legitimacy.”

It reiterated the commitments undertaken by the State of Palestine at the International Conference in New York regarding the completion of the Palestinian reform programme—including holding presidential and parliamentary elections within one year after the end of the war, and ensuring that all candidates in the elections adhere to the political program, international commitments, of the PLO, international legitimacy, and the principle of one system, one law, and one legitimate Palestinian security force.
The statement said Palestine is committed to building “a modern, democratic and unarmed state that adheres to pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power.”
It also pledged to align education reforms with UNESCO standards and establish a unified social welfare system subject to international auditing.
“The State of Palestine affirms its readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and all parties in order to achieve peace, security, and stability for the peoples of the region,” said the statement.
Trump’s peace plan
The plan, which Trump has circulated to Arab leaders, was released after Trump met Netanyahu in Washington on Monday.
The 20-point plan states that on agreement by both sides, “the war will immediately end” with Israeli withdrawals timed to the release of the last hostages held by Hamas. During that initial period, there would be a ceasefire.
Key points include the deployment of a “temporary international stabilization force” and the creation of a transitional authority headed by Trump.
The deal would demand that Hamas fully disarm and be excluded from future roles in the government. However, those who agreed to “peaceful co-existence” would be given amnesty.
Following the Israeli withdrawal, the borders would be opened to aid and investment.
The US president had met key Arab leaders at the United Nations last week and said Sunday on social media that “ALL ARE ON BOARD FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FIRST TIME EVER.”
Gaza death toll
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 66,055, with 168,346 wounded since October 7, 2023.
“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.
