Stallions Beat Dolphins by 174 Runs in Champions One-Day Cup

FAISALABAD: In a stunning display of bowling prowess, Stallions triumphed over Dolphins by a staggering 174 runs in the seventh match of the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a formidable target of 272 runs, Dolphins batters struggled from the outset and were bowled out for a mere 90 runs in just 25 overs.

Stallions’ bowlers, led by Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz, wreaked havoc on Dolphins’ batting lineup, each claiming three wickets. Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf added to Dolphins’ misery with two wickets apiece, ensuring that no batsman could settle in.

Sahibzada Farhan emerged as the top scorer for Dolphins with 32 runs, while Asif Ali contributed 21. The rest of the batting order faltered against the relentless Stallions bowling attack, which proved too hot to handle.

Earlier in the day, Stallions had set a challenging target after a commanding innings. Electing to bat first, they began strongly, with Shan Masood and Yasir Khan forming a solid partnership of 76 runs before Masood was dismissed for 34. Yasir Khan continued to impress, scoring 46 runs before falling to Qasim Akram, which brought the in-form Babar Azam to the crease.

Babar Azam displayed his class and skill, scoring an unbeaten 104 runs off 100 balls, anchoring the innings with an impressive knock. He was supported by Tayyab Tahir, who contributed a valuable 23 runs before being dismissed. With Azam’s century guiding Stallions, they finished their innings at a competitive 271 runs.

The day prior saw Markhors secure a convincing 92-run victory over Dolphins, led by Kamran Ghulam’s brilliant century and all-round performances from Salman Ali Agha and captain Mohammad Rizwan. Markhors remain unbeaten in the tournament, sitting comfortably at the top of the points table.
