ISLAMABAD: The Sri Lankan cricket team on Thursday held an intensive three-hour training session at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the second One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan, scheduled for Friday.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium to meet players from both teams during their practice session and review match preparations ahead of the second ODI match of the ongoing series.
The practice session saw players from both teams engaging in various drills, focusing on key areas such as batting, bowling, fielding, and physical fitness exercises.
The players were seen fine-tuning their skills and preparing for the upcoming match, with special emphasis on team coordination and fitness.
Accompanying Chairman Naqvi were Federal Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Inspector General Islamabad, who arrived at the stadium to assess the security situation around the match.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan Rear Admiral (Rtd) Fred Seneviratne, also visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to observe the practice session and joined the PCB Chairman in reviewing the proceedings.
A briefing on the arrangements for the match was given to the officials present, with Chairman Naqvi emphasizing the importance of ensuring the best possible preparations for the game.
The much-anticipated second ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to take place on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The toss will be at 2:00 PM, with the match set to begin at 2:30 PM. Pakistan currently holds a 1-0 lead in the series after their victory in the first ODI.
The practice session for both teams continued for a solid three hours the previous evening, providing ample time for the players to gear up for the clash and sharpen their skills under the watchful eyes of their respective coaching staff.
