ISLAMABAD: Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner, Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne, met with Pakistan’s Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, on Friday to discuss various mutual interests, including the expedited release of Pakistani nationals incarcerated in Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to complete the necessary procedures for the release of these prisoners within seven days.
Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne assured full support in facilitating this process.
Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude for the High Commissioner’s assistance in expediting the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners.
Naqvi affirmed that all preparations are underway to ensure the swift return of Pakistani citizens held in Sri Lankan jails. Apart from prisoner repatriation, the meeting addressed issues concerning anti-narcotics efforts and border security.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in counter-narcotics and border security initiatives. Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner reiterated the significance of the Sri Lanka-Pakistan relationship, emphasizing its growth and strengthening ties over time.
