RIYADH: The Riyadh Region Mayoralty has announced the inking of five contracts worth SR6 billion to enhance the quality of roads in the capital city for a period of five years, according to Saudi Gazette.

The newspaper reported that this is an extension of its strategic plans to enhance the transportation experience. The contracts aimed to improve the quality of roads, and to further enhance the safe transportation experience within the city and bring it to an advanced level of global standards for measuring road quality.

This is also to improve the efficiency as well as sustainability of the services provided, and include renovation and asphalt works, by further improving the road network. The projects will be implemented until the year 2028 to serve visitors and residents to the city.

The mayoralty follows the mechanism of dividing the Riyadh city into five zones, including the north, south, east, west and central zone, in order to determine work priorities as per precise standards resulting from a complete survey of Riyadh’s roads and streets.

The Riyadh Infrastructure Projects Center, which was set up by a decision of the Council of Ministers on July 19, 2023, contributes within its roles in order to ensure that there is no repetition of work and the sustainability of road quality improvement work during that period by making a comprehensive detailed plan for infrastructure project work in the Riyadh Region.

The Riyadh Region Mayoralty’s inking of these exceptional contracts in addition to the regular contracts comes to enhance the quality of roads within the framework of its efforts in order to achieve the city’s ambitious goals, and in a way that contributes to improving the quality of life in Riyadh, and creating a sustainable and prosperous atmosphere.

This is to achieve the goals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, according to the center’s goal to enhance infrastructure project work in the Riyadh Region to transform Riyadh into one of the most sustainable cities across the world, and to raise the efficiency of infrastructure, improve spending efficiency, and improve the transportation experience.
