Spicy Oats Pancake Recipe

ISLAMABAD: Here is a tasty pancake recipe that’s perfect for breakfast, featuring oats, vegetables, and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk of your choice)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tea spoon chilli powder
  • Cooking oil or butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Blend the rolled oats in a blender until you have a coarse flour.
  2. In a bowl, combine the oat flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cumin powder, chili powder, and paprika. Mix well to make it evenly combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk (or milk), egg, and chopped onions. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir well to combine. Then add the grated carrot and chopped bell peppers.
  4. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil.
  5. Ladle some of the pancake batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip to cook the other side.
  6. Enjoy with your favorite sauce, yogurt, or dip.
