MIRPUR: Speakers in Brussels demanded the international community play their part in highlighting the Kashmir dispute and illegal occupation and human rights violations by the Indian government.
The speakers presented their views during a concluding ceremony at the European Press Club Brussels on Tuesday.
They included Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, Senior Kashmiri leader Sardar Sadique, former ambassador of EU Anthony Crasner, Human Rights Activist Maryan Lucas, Mahmood Iqbal and Khalid Joshi.
They demanded the international community, especially the developed world and the European Union, to raise their voice and convey to India to stop atrocities in the IIOJK and move for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Victims of Indian atrocities for over seven decades
They said that the people of IIOJK remained victims of Indian atrocities for over seven decades and still they are facing the same situation.
Chairman Kashmir Council Ali Raza Syed in his remarks said that after a successful Kashmir EU Week celebration, the ongoing exhibition on Kashmir at the European Press Club would be continued till November 26.
Photo exhibition on Kashmir
The event also included a photo exhibition on Kashmir, where renowned European photographer Cédric Gerbehaye’s photographs were also displayed in the exhibition.
He took these photographs during a visit to the IIOJK, in past. Pakistan’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union Asad Majeed visited the exhibition and appreciated the displayed work over there.
Meanwhile, scores of international affairs experts, intellectuals, scholars, students, and media persons participated in the concluding ceremony.
Other speakers also demanded the international community raise their voices over Indian atrocities in Kashmir and initiate their efforts for the release of all political prisoners in Kashmir. – APP
