ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday to discuss legislative issues and parliamentary affairs. According to a statement from the PM Office Media Wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the Speaker for his adept management of National Assembly proceedings, ensuring their smooth operation.
The development took place as voting is underway to elect new President of Pakistan. The time for polling for the presidential election has started, local media reported on Saturday. PPP leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari has reached the Parliament House and exercised his democratic right in the presidential polls. Asif Ali Zardari and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the leader of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), will vie for the office. PPP and PML-N said that they will support former President Asif Ali Zardari while SIC announced support for Mehmood Khan Achakzai. —APP
