ISLAMABAD: SpaceX, Boeing, and Netflix are among the companies joining the biggest-ever US business mission to Vietnam in the upcoming week to discuss sales opportunities and investment in the Southeast Asian state.
Over 50 companies, including pharmaceutical, defense, and tech firms, will take part in the mission arranged by the US-ASEAN Business Council.
The delegation is a sign of increasing interest in the global manufacturing center, which is benefiting from a shift away from China amid its trade friction with the US.
Vietnam, with a population of around 100 million people, also has an increasingly-growing consumer market as its middle class expands.
The Council’s representative Vu tu Thanh said that this is the biggest-ever mission in the country. The Council is arranging these events after 3 decades.
Boeing, Bell, and Lockheed Martin meetings
Aerospace manufacturers Boeing, Bell and Lockheed Martin will hold meetings with Vietnamese defense procurement companies, the representative said.
In December, the same firms held talks with Vietnamese government authorities about the possible sale of drones and helicopters as the country tries new suppliers and the Ukraine conflict affects the capabilities of Russia, which was for decades Vietnam’s big military partner.
