SP Martyred, DSP Wounded in Encounter with Terrorists in Northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred while three others including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) wounded during an encounter with terrorists in Mardan’s Zada Mata area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local media reported on Tuesday.

The encounter took place as law enforcement agencies engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with terrorists, leading to the martyrdom of police officer Ijaz Khan. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman also confirmed the incident, saying that the brave Police officer fell victim to the terrorists’ indiscriminate firing.

The injured officials were immediately shifted to the hospital for urgent medical help.  As per media reports, during the operation police personnel retaliated against the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of 2 wanted terrorists.  Local media reported that that the operation was intelligence-driven, targeting terrorists in Mardan.

The police top brass and local people paid rich tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of SP Ijaz Khan, highlighting the resilience of law enforcement personnel in the face of adversity.
