LONDON: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is expected to visit Britain in November this year on the invitation from King Charles III, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday.
Yoon will be the second foreign leader to visit the United Kingdom since King Charles became monarch in September last year, following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
Earlier South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Britain last November.
King Charles, Queen Camilla to host Yoon at Buckingham Palace
King Charles, and Queen Camilla will host Yoon and his wife at Buckingham Palace while no official date has been announced for the visit yet.
The South Korean leader gathered international attention in April during a week-long state visit to the United States (US), when he surprised guests with the song American Pie. US President Joe Biden appreciated the singing skills of South Korea’s President at a White House dinner.
However, such a thing is unlikely to happen in London as state banquets in Buckingham are more serious and only have speeches and toasts.

King Charles and Yoon had previously met at the reception for heads of state and official overseas guests at the palace on the eve of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Last year Yoon was caught on a microphone making disparaging remarks about US lawmakers during a conversation with Biden at the United Nations General Assembly.
Yoon, who narrowly won power in a presidential election in March last year, is constitutionally barred from serving more than a single term, which ends in 2027.
