South Korea Opposition Chief Stabbed in Neck

SEOUL: South Korea’s opposition chief Lee Jae-myung stabbed in neck on Tuesday while talking to journalists in the port city of Busan, local media reported.

As per reports Lee was stabbed on the left side of his neck with a sharp weapon by an unidentified man during his visit to the site of a proposed airport.

TV footage showed a man attacking Lee and striking him. Lee then can be seen collapsing as people rush to help him.

Photographs published in media showed Lee lying on the ground with closed eyes and the people around him pressing a handkerchief against the side of his neck.

Lee was conscious while being shifted to the hospital, and the unidentified assailant was arrested from the scene.

Chief of the Democratic Party, Lee lost to conservative Yoon Suk Yeol in a presidential race last year.
