DUBAI: South Africa’s veteran spinner Simon Harmer has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November 2025, recognising his match-winning performances that spearheaded a historic Test series victory in India.

Harmer clinched the prestigious monthly honour ahead of strong contenders, Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz and Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam.

The award comes on the back of his pivotal role in South Africa’s first Test series win on Indian soil since the year 2000.

Historic Series Win

The off-spinner was the undisputed standout bowler during the two-match series, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with a remarkable 17 scalps at a stunning average of 8.94.

His best performance sealed the series, as his sensational second-innings figures of 6 for 37 in the Guwahati Test skittled India for a mere 140, securing a dominant 408-run victory for the Proteas.

Reacting to the achievement, Harmer expressed deep gratitude, calling it a “privilege” and highlighting the collective effort behind individual success.

“Playing for my country is a dream come true and anything else that comes from it as a result is a bonus,” Harmer stated in an ICC release.

“I share this award with my teammates, coaches and support staff and dedicate it to my family who allow me to go out and live my dream, often having to leave them at home to do so.”

He further emphasised his pride in being part of the current South African set-up, expressing hope for “many more successful seasons with this remarkable group of people.”

The award solidifies Harmer’s status as a world-class spinner and a central figure in South Africa’s Test resurgence, capping off a month where his skill and consistency on one of cricket’s most challenging tours made all the difference.
