ISLAMABAD: South Africa’s teenage pace sensation Kwena Maphaka has been ruled out of the team’s upcoming white-ball tour to Pakistan, as well as the one-off T20I against Namibia in Windhoek this Saturday, after suffering a hamstring strain.

The 19-year-old left-arm fast bowler sustained the injury during a domestic four-day match last week. Following medical evaluation, the injury was diagnosed as a Grade 1-2 hamstring strain, which will sideline him for at least four weeks as he undergoes rehabilitation.

In his absence, Ottneil Baartman has been called up to replace Maphaka in both the squad for the Namibia fixture and the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, scheduled between October 28 and November 1.

Meanwhile, Lizaad Williams will take Maphaka’s place in the One Day International (ODI) squad, with that series set to run from November 4 to 8.
