JOHANNESBURG, South Africa: Cricket South Africa on Thursday announced its women’s squads for the upcoming home T20 and ODI series against Pakistan, with the matches serving as part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The series will feature three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) from February 10 to 16, followed by a three-match One Day International (ODI) series commencing February 22.

The headline selection is the inclusion of 20-year-old batting all-rounder Kayla Reyneke, who receives her first senior national call-up for the T20I leg.

The former Under-19 captain has been recognised for her standout domestic performances.

CSA convenor of selectors Clinton du Preez praised Reyneke’s development, stating, “Kayla has always been a talent to watch and has recently shown clear growth in both her skill set and maturity. This selection acknowledges her consistent progress and provides a platform to demonstrate her capabilities at the international level.”

Following the T20Is, the focus will shift to the 50-over format, which marks the beginning of South Africa’s new ICC Women’s Championship cycle. The ODI squad sees four changes from the T20I group.

Coach targets continued growth

Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi expressed confidence in the selected players, emphasising the importance of the series within a packed schedule leading to the World Cup.

“We are pleased to select two competitive squads for a demanding period, which includes future tours against New Zealand and India,” Mashimbyi said.

“The team carries confidence from how we ended 2025, but the expectation is to improve further. This series against a familiar yet challenging Pakistan side is key for executing our plans and assessing our progress moving forward,” he added.

The series serves as a critical evaluation phase for South Africa as they build towards hosting the global T20 tournament in mid-2026.
