MIAMI: The Hollywood actress Sophie Turner has confirmed her divorce with singer Joe Jonas.
She is receiving overwhelming support from her fellow celebrities, including from her ‘Game of Thrones’ co-stars.
It’s worth noting that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, aged 34, embarked on their romantic journey in 2016 and soon became engaged in October of the following year.
Their union was celebrated with two weddings, a spontaneous one and another more formal, in 2019.
The celebrity duo also welcomed two daughters, Willa, aged 3, and D., aged 1.
Reports have surfaced suggesting that the couple encountered ‘significant challenges’ in their relationship over the past six months, leading them to make the difficult decision to separate. Additionally, they recently sold their shared mansion.
Sophie Turner, renowned for her portrayal of Sansa Stark, took to social media to share a joint statement on behalf of the estranged couple, emphasizing that their parting was mutually consent.
The statement reads, “After the wonderful marriage of four years, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. While there are numerous speculative narratives regarding the reasons, this is genuinely a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our desire for privacy, both for us and our children.”
Support from her ‘Game of Thrones’ co-stars, Emilia Clarke, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Maisie Williams – who portrayed Daenerys Targaryen, Missandei, and Sansa’s sister Arya, respectively – was evident through their engagement with her post.
In the show, Sophie Turner’s character played the role of the second child of King and Queen of the North, Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and Lady Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley).
She was the sister of Rob (Richard Madden), Arya, Bran (Isaac-Hempstead Wright), and Rickon (Art Parkinson) and the step-sister of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington). Her character, Sansa, married Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) and orchestrated her abusive husband’s demise by feeding him to his own “hungry” hounds.
Her character eventually ascended to become the Queen of the North in the show’s finale, a development not present in the original books.
