ISTANBUL: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and the Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) organized a song launch ceremony at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim Universitesi on Friday, releasing the anthem titled “Jails of Kashmir,” penned by renowned Turkish songwriter and author Turgay Evren.
The song inauguration took place in the presence of Hurriyat leaders from Pakistan and the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami, and was presided over by Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
The anthem, “Jails of Kashmir,” poignantly mentions the arrests of Kashmiri leaders Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Asiya Andrabi, Masarrat Alam Bhat, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayyaz, Naeem Ahmed Khan, and other Hurriyat leaders.
Notable figures at the event, including Prof. Sami Al-Arian, Abdur Rasheed Turabi, former Member of the Legislative Assembly, Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, and Faheem Kayani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, expressed the significance of the Kashmir Azadi Movement being in harmony with modern demands. Launching the song in English and Turkish languages represents a crucial development in amplifying the plight of incarcerated Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders.
Song Portrays Sufferings of Kashmiri Prisoners
Altaf Ahmed Bhat, Senior leader of APHC and Chairman of JKSM, commended the song’s powerful voice in portraying the sufferings of Kashmiri prisoners and expressed hope for the future. He praised the government and people of Türkiye for their continuous support for the oppressed Kashmiris, and poets like Turgay Evren for being ambassadors of the Kashmir movement.
The event was attended by Mejbel – Al Sharika, a human rights activist from Kuwait, along with students and journalists.
The heartfelt anthem, highlighting the struggles of Kashmiris for freedom, is expected to strengthen the bond of solidarity between the Kashmiri and Turkish communities, inspiring hope for a future of independence in the region.
