SAO PAULO, Brazil: At least Seven people were killed in Brazil’s southeast Minas Gerais state when a small plane they were flying crashed on Sunday, authorities said.
The plane was flying from Campinas, broke up mid-air and crashed at around 10:36 am in the town of Itapeva.
According to a statement by the firefighting department seven dead bodies were found from the site of the crash.
Residents of the region reported that there was intense rain on the morning of the accident in Itapeva. The Fire Department reported that the plane, registered as PS-MTG and manufactured in 1996 by Piper Aircraft, disintegrated in the air before crashing, around 10:36 am. https://t.co/aGM35wl0l1 pic.twitter.com/Hmh28WVtpg

Images uploaded on social media by the locals show the wreckage of the plane on the side of a hill covered with grass and trees.
Last morning there were heavy rains in the area where the accident occurred. Police and personnel from the Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA) are trying to determine the cause of the accident.
In September last year 14 people were killed during a small plane crash in Amazon. The plane was an 18-passenger EMB-110, a manufactured by Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer.
