ISLAMABAD: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential for a fulfilling life, and one of the ways to achieve this is by consuming a balanced diet. While there are several types of food items available in the market, not all of them are healthier for our bodies. We can maintain a healthy lifestyle by cutting down on unhealthy food items and making a few dietary changes.

Manpreet Singh, a registered dietitian, suggests that people replace some unhealthy food items in their kitchen with healthier alternatives. In her Instagram post, she shared some healthy recipes to make it easier for her viewers.

Fruits for healthier life

One of the suggested replacements is cold-pressed virgin oils instead of processed vegetable oil. Processed vegetable oil contains chemicals and polyunsaturated fats that are not good for our health. Cold-pressed virgin oils are a healthier alternative, as they are not processed and do not contain any harmful chemicals.

Another replacement suggested is refined sugar with jaggery or coconut sugar. Refined white sugar is linked to several diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and other cardiovascular complications. Jaggery and coconut sugar are healthier alternatives to refined sugar, as they provide sweetness and essential nutrients without harmful effects.

Fresh fruits are always a better option than fruit juices. Fruit juices are an instant source of energy, but they contain low fiber, which can cause diabetes. Fresh fruits, on the other hand, are packed with essential vitamins and minerals, making them a healthier option.

Using Millet flour instead of refined flour is also suggested. Millet flour is easily digestible and more nutritious, making it a healthier alternative to refined flour.

Fresh vegetables for healthier life

Fresh vegetables are always better than frozen ones. While frozen vegetables may be convenient, they lose their essential nutritional value during the preservation process. Fresh vegetables should always be preferred, as they provide essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies need.

Lastly, Manpreet suggests replacing the market mixture with a healthier option, such as the poha mixture. The poha mixture is made with puffed rice, which is a good source of energy and is low in calories. It is a healthier alternative to market mixtures, which are often high in salt and unhealthy fats.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential for our overall well-being. By making small changes in our diet, such as using healthier alternatives to processed foods, we can maintain a balanced diet and achieve our desired health goals.
