MELBOURNE, Australia: Shan Masood joined former Pakistan Captain Imran Khan and India’s Virat Kohli in achieving a rare feat by scoring 60 runs in the second innings of the second Test match against Australia here on Friday.

Shan had also scored 54 runs in the first innings. His performance in both innings marked a significant achievement, making him the first Pakistan captain since Imran Khan in 1983 to achieve the feat of scoring a half-century in both innings of a Test match in Australia.

Prior to Shan Masood’s achievement, the notable cases were of Hanif Mohammad (1964), when he scored 104 and 93, and by the legendary Imran Khan in 1983, with scores of 83 and an unbeaten 72.

Shan Masood’s feat also extended beyond the realm of Pakistan’s cricket history, as he became the first visiting batter to secure two fifties in a Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground since Indian batter Virat Kohli accomplished the same in 2014.
