SRINAGAR: A startling incident unfolded in the Rajouri district of Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), as at least six Indian army personnel, including three officers, found themselves injured due to an attack by one of their own comrades.

The incident occurred at Neeli post in the Thanamandi area of the district, where an Indian officer suddenly opened fire and detonated grenades inside a camp, leading to a tense and chaotic situation that persisted for nearly eight hours.

The officer’s actions took place without provocation, catching his colleagues off guard during what was supposed to be a routine shooting practice session.

Subsequently, the officer sought refuge within the camp’s armoury and continued his assault by launching grenades at his superiors, who had approached the building in an attempt to persuade him to surrender. The confrontation raised grave concerns and necessitated a response from the Indian army.

As a precautionary measure, the army evacuated a nearby village, recognizing the potential danger posed by the ongoing situation. The incident has undoubtedly raised questions about the security and stability within the military ranks.

It’s worth noting that while the army’s official statement suggested an injury due to a possible grenade accident at a post in Rajouri, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain a matter of investigation and scrutiny.

This event serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges faced in conflict-ridden regions, where even within military units, unexpected and alarming situations can arise, necessitating swift and careful response and evaluation.
