ISLAMABAD: Esteemed film playback singer, Naseem Begum’s 88th birth anniversary is being observed today. Born on February 24, 1936, in Amritsar, she garnered recognition for her poignant renditions in films.
Naseem Begum received her musical guidance from the renowned classical singer Mukhtar Begum. Her musical journey began in 1958, and she contributed her melodious voice to over 500 movie songs. Notably, Naseem Begum was honoured with the prestigious Nigar Awards for four consecutive years, spanning from 1960 to 1964.

One of her notable compositions, “Hum Bhol Gaye Har Baat,” resonated deeply with music aficionados. She rose to prominence through her memorable duets with the celebrated playback singer Ahmed Rushdi.
