LOS ANGELES: Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones and NBA player Donovan Mitchell have announced their engagement, marking a new chapter in their two-year relationship that had largely been kept out of the public eye.

The couple shared the news on Friday, through a joint Instagram post featuring a photo of Jones showing off her engagement ring.

In a separate video post, Mitchell gave fans a glimpse of the proposal, which appeared to have taken place at a beachside resort.

The video captured a heartfelt moment where the Cleveland Cavaliers star got down on one knee and proposed to the singer.

A representative for the couple confirmed the news to PEOPLE, stating: “After an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned into a beautiful engagement.”

The spokesperson also revealed that the couple has been together for two years and are now looking forward to building a life together.

Despite their fame, Jones, 27, and Mitchell, 28, have largely kept their romance private. The pair were first linked in early 2024 when fans speculated about a potential relationship after both were spotted in Paris around the same time—Jones on a personal trip and Mitchell participating in the Paris Olympics.

The rumours intensified after they were seen together at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fourth of July party, and later holding hands at Usher’s concert in Las Vegas in September 2024.

Their relationship became more public in late 2024, when Coco Jones was seen courtside at one of Mitchell’s Cleveland Cavaliers games.

In March 2025, she confirmed the relationship during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast.

She explained her preference for privacy, saying: “Secrecy is not what I prefer. I don’t want to feel like I have to be somebody’s secret. I’m trying to protect myself, my family, and who I love.”

Jones, who began her career as a child actress on Disney Channel and rose to prominence with her breakout single ICU, won the Best R&B Performance award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

She has since released several hit tracks and continues to build a successful music career.

Mitchell, affectionately nicknamed “Spida” by fans, was first drafted into the NBA in 2017 by the Utah Jazz before moving to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Known for his athleticism and charisma on and off the court, Mitchell has also featured in a documentary titled Rookie on the Rise and is a long-time fan of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.

Following the engagement announcement, the couple’s social media accounts were flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities.
