KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori was honoured with Ethiopia’s highest accolade, the Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity Award, by Ethiopian Ambassador and Special Envoy Dr. Jamal Beker in a ceremony at Governor House on Tuesday.
This award recognized Governor Tessori’s outstanding contributions to enhancing the relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
On this occasion, Governor Tessori expressed his heartfelt thanks to Ambassador Beker, noting that the bilateral relations between the two nations have reached unprecedented levels of cooperation and strength.
The event featured an Ethiopian cultural show, during which Ambassador Beker lauded the Governor’s role in fostering public ties, particularly highlighting his efforts in facilitating the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan.
Ambassador Beker emphasized the collaborative efforts of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the Pakistani government, the business community, civil society, and the media in strengthening people-to-people relations between the two countries. He noted that the introduction of Ethiopian Airlines has significantly bolstered these relations, enhancing bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation.
The cultural night showcased Ethiopia’s diverse culture and rich heritage, celebrating it as a land of origins, coffee, and historical figures like Bilal Habeshi and King Nejashei.
Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), acknowledged the growing bilateral ties but urged for greater exploitation of trade and business opportunities between the two nations. H.E. Ibrahim Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, commended Ambassador Beker for his exceptional efforts in promoting bilateral relations and highlighted the cultural similarities shared by Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The event, attended by a diverse group including Pakistani officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, business leaders, and media, featured vibrant Ethiopian dance and music performances.
It was hosted by the Ethiopian Embassy in collaboration with the Sindh Governor House, Pakistan Ethiopia Business Council, and Bukhari Groups.
