KARACHI: In response to the intensifying heatwave, the Sindh government has taken proactive measures by establishing 77 heatwave centres and camps across the Karachi division.
This initiative aims to provide immediate relief to the general public grappling with soaring temperatures.
According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the distribution of these centres is as follows: South District will host 11 centers, East District 18, West District 6, Central District 12, Malir District 15, Korangi District 8, and Kemari District 7.
Furthermore, three centers each have been designated for Civil Lines and Garden subdivisions, with two each in Saddar and Aram Bagh. In Gulshan Iqbal, 4 centres have been set up, while Ferozabad has 2, Jamshed Quarters 6, and Gulzar Hijri 5. ManghoPir will accommodate 4 centres, Orangi and North Nazimabad 2 each, and Gulberg 4.
New Karachi, Liaquatabad, and North Nazimabad will each have 2 centres, while Ibrahim Hydari will see 8 centres, Murad Memon 3, Bin Qasim and Airport Sub-Division 2 each. Additionally, Korangi and Landhi will each host 2 centres, with one center in Shah Faisal and three in Model Colony. Finally, one centre each has been established in Kemari and Maripur, two in Baldia, and three in the SITE area, as stated in the release.
This widespread deployment of heatwave centers underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens during periods of extreme weather, ensuring that necessary assistance and relief are readily accessible across the city.Top of Form
