GENEVA: The Sikh community in Geneva, Switzerland protested against the atrocities of Narendra Modi government in India on Tuesday.

The protest was organized in front of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) headquarters, in which the Modi regime’s aggressive policies against religious minorities were highlighted. The protestors also demanded the release of political prisoners in India.

The timing of the protest was important as a meeting was underway at UNHRC headquarters, in which members of human rights organizations and diplomats from various countries were present.

The protesters chanted anti-Modi slogans and appealed help from the international community to stop the Indian government’s brutalities against minorities in the country.

Addressing the protest, the speakers said that those who speak for the rights of the Sikh community in India and talk about Khalistan are imprisoned unconstitutionally and illegally. Authorities do not release them even after court orders, which is against Geneva Convention and international law.

They said that atrocities against Sikhs in India are increasing day by day, and the international community should take notice of the situation. It should put pressure on India to stop extra-constitutional killings and enforced disappearances of Sikhs in the country.

The protestors vowed to continue their struggle till the establishment of Khalistan.
