ISLAMABAD: Flour prices have witnessed a notable decline across Pakistan, including the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, offering relief to households grappling with economic challenges. According to official documents from the Ministry of Food Security and Research, the cost of a 20 kg bag of flour has significantly dropped in various cities, reflecting positive developments in the market.
In Islamabad, residents have experienced a remarkable reduction in flour prices, with the cost of a 20 kg bag plummeting by an impressive Rs 850 within just one month. Previously priced at around Rs 3,000, consumers can now purchase the same quantity for as low as Rs 2,053, with the maximum price capped at Rs 2,133.
Similarly, in Rawalpindi, the cost has decreased from an average of Rs 2,960 to a minimum of Rs 2,053, providing much-needed relief to households.
Citizens, such as Maaz Ullah Khan from G-9 Islamabad, have expressed gratitude for the decline in flour prices, noting that it has alleviated financial strain on families. The reduction in prices comes as a relief after months of increases in essential food item costs, offering respite to consumers facing economic hardships.
Moreover, other cities across Pakistan, including Gujranwala, Lahore, and Sargodha, have also witnessed substantial decreases in flour prices. In Gujranwala, the average price of a 20 kg bag has dropped to Rs 1,860 from Rs 2,800 last month, while Lahore residents are now paying around Rs 1,900 compared to the previous price of Rs 2,800. Similarly, in Sargodha district, the average price stands at Rs 2,000, reflecting improved affordability for consumers.
However, Karachi remains an exception to this trend, with flour prices remaining relatively high compared to other cities. Despite the overall decrease in prices, Karachiites are still paying around Rs 2,300 for a 20 kg bag. Nevertheless, cities like Hyderabad and Sukkur have witnessed more favorable price adjustments, with flour becoming more affordable at Rs 2,200 and Rs 1,900, respectively.
These reductions in flour prices offer much-needed relief for households, allowing families to better manage their budgets amid economic uncertainties. With essential commodities becoming more affordable, consumers can stretch their budgets and cope with the rising cost of living, contributing to improved household welfare.
Overall, the downward trend in flour prices signifies positive developments in the market, raising hopes for enhanced affordability and accessibility of essential food items for the populace. As consumers continue to benefit from these reductions, the impact on the broader economy and household spending patterns remains to be seen in the coming months.
