ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has launched the Green Pakistan Initiative to modernize agriculture sector, an essential sector of Pakistan’s economy. The Green initiative aims to develop over seven million hectares of previously uncultivated land.
Since the announcement of the Initiative, both domestic and foreign investors have expressed strong interest. Foreign investors have also inked contracts to cultivate 140 thousand acres, while 85 domestic investors and firms have committed to cultivating 460 thousand acres of land.
The establishment of the Land Information and Management System aligns agriculture with modern practices, enhancing productivity and efficiency. This development is likely to boost national exports, improve food security, and also create more employment opportunities in the country.
Government and military efforts have significantly increased the cultivable area, demonstrating progress in transforming agricultural landscape in Pakistan. A large number of local and foreign investors have expressed confidence in the Green Pakistan Initiative and inked agreements for investment in agriculture sector.
