ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Petroleum Division has witnessed significant progress with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), mandated to bring foreign investment to the country.

The division has been tasked with improving coordination with stakeholders from China and Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This includes presenting a unified stance on Pakistan’s offshore blocks at the forthcoming meeting.

Additionally, the Petroleum Division has been directed to arrange an inter-provincial meeting to discuss the regulatory framework for minerals, working with the inter-provincial coordination committee.

Special Secretary of the Petroleum Division reported that all federal projects related to minerals have been transferred to a newly established minerals wing, with consultants being hired to assist.

The division has also been instructed to collaborate with the Ministry of External Affairs to explore the option of importing LPG from Turkmenistan, aiming to enhance the country’s energy supply.

The Reko Diq project was highlighted for its introduction of advanced mining and processing technologies to Pakistan, which will bolster the country’s mineral industry and enhance its global reputation.
