MUMBAI: Indian cricketer-turned-TV host and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has surprised fans by setting a condition to make a return to ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show.’

He set the condition while appearing as a special guest in the show along with his wife on November 16.

When asked by the host to return as a permanent guest, Sidhu left everyone surprised by saying that he would come back only if Archana Puran Singh joined him at his seat. She was flattered by the compliment and thanked Navjot for the kind gesture.

During the previous episode of the show, the former Indian cricketer compared the show to a bouquet.

“God created it, it’s a bouquet. It’s got a wonderful fragrance, and every flower has a unique fragrance. Before I die, I wish to see all these flowers together again, along with Archana. I really do,” Sidhu said.

It is worth mentioning here that Sidhu was the permanent guest of the show before his sudden departure from the programme in 2019. There were speculations that he was forced to depart from the show due to his political statements.

Later film actress Archana Puran Singh joined the show as a permanent guest.  Earlier speaking on a podcast, Navjot Singh Sidhu said, “There were political reasons I don’t want to talk about. There were other reasons… and the bouquet fell apart.”

“I have a wish that that bouquet must get together again, the way it was. I will be the first to facilitate,” he said. “His show is still doing very well. Kapil is a genius.”

Navjot Singh Sidhu has started his career from cricket, later turning a commentator and TV show guest/host and finally a politician.

He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2004. He contested and won the Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab, marking the beginning of his political career. He secured successive victories in the 2007 and 2012 assembly elections from the Amritsar East constituency.

In 2016, he resigned from the BJP and joined the Indian National Congress (INC).
