LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League’s Sialkot Stallionz franchise has officially been renamed Multan Sultans following a major ownership change, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approving the rebranding request.
The development comes after CD Ventures, led by CEO Gohar Shah, acquired a 98 per cent stake in the franchise from previous owners OZ Developers. The takeover was finalised in late February, and the rebranding formally took effect on March 3, 2026.
With PCB’s approval, the team will now compete as Multan Sultans in the upcoming PSL 11 season.
Franchise fee increased
Following the change in ownership and identity, the franchise’s annual fee has been revised upward. The per annum fee has been increased from PKR 185 crore to PKR 200 crore, reflecting the updated valuation under the new management structure.
Despite the name change, the team will remain the eighth franchise in the expanded PSL 11, scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, 2026.
The franchise was initially introduced as Sialkot Stallionz on January 21, 2026, after being awarded during the PSL expansion process. However, internal disagreements and financial challenges led to the exit of original owner Kamil Khan in February.
CD Ventures subsequently stepped in to stabilise the franchise’s operations, leading to the decision to restore the Multan Sultans brand.
The revival of the Multan Sultans identity marks another significant shift in the PSL’s evolving franchise landscape ahead of the 2026 season.
